Actually this mic is an exact replica of the U47. It is equipped with F7 capsule – our exact replica of M7 capsule, our replica of BV8 transformer and TELEFUNKEN EF14, UF14 or VF14 tubes. In fact, they are the same tubes with different heating. Especially we focus on EF12 tube as we consider its sound character closest to original. Of course, the price depends on the type of tube. Those of you who have knowledge of prices know that the price of a good VF14 tube can reach 1,500€, so it is obvious that this mic is not a cheap thing. But this mic is possible to use for almost everything and always sounds perfect. Of course, there are a few exceptions, but only a fool would position this mic 5 cm from the kick-drumhead of a heavy metal drummer. The body is duraluminium and is nickel plated . The grille is available in two versions: glossy chrome or matt nickel. The whole set comprises the mic in wooden box, cable, shockmount and power supply. The output transformer holds original materials to reach sonic authenticity of its legendary predecessors. The last important part of the electronical system of the microphone is its tube, triode, carefully selected for noise reduction. It should also be pointed out that all critical parts of the microphone are lead by air without using printed circuit boards. Microphone chassis is designed robust with steel-dural construction. The whole surface is nickel-plated and provides long term protection of the microphone electrical system against mechanical damage or wear. We especially want to point out the grille construction that consists of three layers of grid and secures complete protection of capsule against its mechanical damaging. This grille´s sound coloration is identical with the types of historical microphones such as M49 or U67. Important and separate chapter of this microphone is a power supply with its stainless dural construction. The power supply unit is built as a tank when it comes to its durability so that it can serve your grandchildren or great-grandchildren...One of the power supply's part is precisely performed filtration of noise- and buzz-producing elements from power supply voltages. All applied voltage values are fully adjustable and thus it is perfectly possible to set up the operating point of the tube used in the mic. Another part of the power supply unit is a polar pattern switch. The polar patterns are optional: cardioid, eight and omni. It is obvious that our company manufactures all mechanical parts of the mic as well as those of the power supply and we do not use parts made in China or in any Asian country. The only elements that are not produced in our company are the connectors made in Switzerland and Germany. The whole electronical system is also assembled in our manufacture and in this matter we do not cooperate with any Asian countries. Each mic leaving our manufactory is tested in our site for 48 hours and after that its operational points are set up. It means that every customer will get so called “burnt-in“ piece that retains its parameters for long years. Concerning this piece, one thing is sure: it can not be used as a clip mic for TV talkshows. Every other use is possible. Its core contains connections of two EF12 tubes and two optional output transformers which are different by coil windings as well as in sound. Signal can be directed to the vintage transformer which provides huge vintage sound or to modern one, so the sound is wider and more linear . The standard microphone set is made in modification where the bias switch is placed at our modern design PSU panel. The bias switch changes operating point of the tubes. There is used a 9-position switch. Movement of operating point involves variety of mic sounds. From softer, where you can comfortably reduce sibilants (hiss) and the other unpleasant middle frequencies, till real aggressive sound which can be used for a little less expressive voices. Also you can set the switch in position -0- to make neutral sound of the microphone. Accessories: PSU with bias switch, cable, safe case. Switch for changing output transformers is placed also at the PSU. The second version possible to choose is the old vintage hardware version where the PSU and bias switch are separated. Switching between output transformers and bias switch controlling the operating point of the tubes are the reasons why -galaxy- of sound combinations is rising there. Of course, in smooth steps. This mic is an exact replica of C12 and involves an exact replica of the original power supply N12 with pattern switch U2. As standard, it is equipped with Tim Campbell's CT12 capsule - great choice if you are considering the clones of original CK12. The tube is GE 6072 in five-star version which generates minimum noise and microphonic. These tubes were produced especially for military purposes and were used also in the original C12s. The transformer is our own replica of original . Considering the sound, it is simply “Rolls-Royce”. In some applications this mic will seem somewhat neutral, but it benefits will stand out during mixdown. It’s fantastic for vocals, acoustic instruments as well as ambient miking. FLEA 50 is our replica of famous M50 microphone. All mechanical parts are identical to original. FLEA 50 is fitted with our own capsule and transformer. As you know, this mic is great to use on AB stereo recording technique. Best for symphonic orchestra miking or as a spot microphone for acoustic instruments.
